COMING SOON: The Sunder Breach

Mar 12, 12:25

I am very excited to announce that my second novel, The Sunder Breach, will be released next Fall, 2011. Advance snippets of this new suspense thriller will begin to appear on Scribd soon. Meanwhile, following is a brief summary of The Sunder Breach.

THE SUNDER BREACH
When Mark Sunder went to work on Monday he never expected the tumultuous events that would transform his life. The trouble begins when his best friend’s body is found inside his office. The official ruling is suicide, but the facts don’t add up. As Mark investigates, he runs into one lie after another. Forced to probe deeper for answers, he soon realizes that someone is going to great lengths to cover their tracks.

Unwilling to play along and stay quiet, Mark finds himself in the cross hairs. But who is it that wants him dead, and what secret is worth killing for? As the pressure mounts, so too does the list of suspects. Without knowing whom to trust he begins to question all he has come to learn. In no time at all Mark is thrust into a life and death struggle where the only way to survive is to reveal the truth behind terrible secrets that no one wants exposed.

In The Sunder Breach, Mark discovers the company he works for – Epicenter Consulting – is the front for a rogue intelligence organization that’s been operating throughout the world with its own twisted rules of engagement. Even worse, he fears that his work has contributed to the deaths of thousands of innocent lives. The subsequent investigation leads Mark to uncover an unholy alliance between the company’s ambitious and power-hungry leader, Richard Ashe, and a promising Washington politician. The unscrupulous official is in line to become the next President of the United States and Richard will stop at nothing to own him. As the danger escalates, Mark learns that he is an unwitting pawn, recruited through lies and deceit to expose this clandestine organization and bring the villains to justice. Thrust into a shadow world he knows little about, Mark is at first outgunned, outsmarted, and over matched.

The Sunder Breach is a thriller of conspiracy and intrigue, power and betrayal, hairbreadth escapes and nonstop suspense interwoven in a modern setting of good versus evil. The story revolves around the trials and tribulations of the main character, Mark Sunder, following him as he’s drawn inexorably into the center of a maelstrom. Embroiled in a conspiracy far more elaborate than he ever imagined, Mark finds himself pitted against a ruthless alliance with dangerous ambitions and a sinister agenda.

Desperate to keep Mark from revealing the truth, Richard Ashe mobilizes every resource at his disposal. Relentlessly pursued by the cruel and sadistic Major Samuel Beckett, the reluctant hero must race against time, using his Special Forces training, sharp wit, and uncommon daring to stay one step ahead of the enemy. Coming to his aid is Laura Haig, a beautiful and mysterious British agent who is investigating Epicenter on behalf of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service. Together they form a powerful team – Laura the detached professional spy and Mark the novice who is emotionally driven to see that Epicenter pays for its crimes.

Throughout his travels, Mark crosses paths with an eclectic group of individuals, including a smarmy gangster, an unlikely banker, and a powerful politician. In the end, Mark forms his own meager alliance, implementing a daring covert operation in the midst of a storm’s fury to cripple Epicenter, expose the company to the worldwide intelligence community, and send the evildoers scurrying to their deaths.

FUN AT THE BOOK SWAP CAFE

May 5, 08:17

On Sunday I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Anita Hickey, left, and Mickey Russo, right, for their Concord Cable TV show, the Book Swap Cafe. They’ve been doing the show for four years and I was their 80th author interview. How cool is that? They review books and talk with local authors. It was great fun and I enjoyed meeting them and the studio staff. The Wellwishers is going to reviewed by them in the Fall so I’ll keep you posted.

The 30 min interview will air four times a week for two weeks beginning May 29th. The show will run in Concord, Manchester, Bedford, Keene and Raymond, NH. I’ve also contacted the local cable access stations north of Boston so if you live in the area you might see it. Let me know if you do!
